Easy Steps to a Healthier You #2

As promised, here is the second installment of taking those easy steps towards a healthier you!FIGHTING FAT WITH FIBER
The age old question: white or wheat bread? Calorie-wise there actually isn't much difference. Commerically made bread is usually 65-70 calories per slice. Wheat bread has more vitamin B and E, zinc, folic acid & chromium, along with 1.3 more grams of fat blasting fiber per slice than white bread. It is the extra nutritional bonuses that you get with wheat bread that makes it the obvious winner in this race. It's been proven that afiber rich diet assists in loosing weight.

On your next trip to Mystic Market, order a healthier version of your favorite sandwich by skipping the cheese. This will drop 100 calories off the sandwich, and you don't have to miss out on taste. Ask for it to be topped with yellow mustard instead (only 3 calories per teaspoon)- and swap a tablespoon of hummus for your mayo, saving 60 calories with this tasty trick.

Dried fruits such as apricots, dates, prunes & raisins can be found at Mystic Market, and are all high in fiber. They serve as a delicious dessert or snack, too!

Thanks, Fitbie!
